Oh, What Memories I recall
~*Granny's Patio*~

Oh what memories I recall.
Granny's cottage most of all.
So much love in every room,
And in the garden filled with bloom

On the patio when shadows fall
Clear and beautiful the call
Of morning doves in silent air
Sound that nothing can compare

Grandma whispers in my ear
Memories of grandpa sitting near
And sharing times and seasons past
And years together passing fast

I miss grandpa too you see
I miss the songs he sang to me
As shadows fell in twilight dusk
We'd built a special kind of trust

He'd tell me stories of the farm
Of stacking hay, cows in the barn
Of threshing wheat of golden hue
Of horses loved, and old dog Blue.

He taught me games learned in youth
Chess, and checkers, pinochle too
As grandma brought us lemonade
Then joined us in the games we played.

As we shared these memories
Fading light shown through the trees.
I saw the tears run down her face
Her thoughts in another time and place

I took her weathered hand in mine
And kissed a cheek so touched by time
I knew no one could take his place
But God can heal with loving grace

Though many years had come and gone
The love she felt still lingered on
She smiled at me with gentle love
And asked, "honey, hear that morning dove"?

I can see granny's patio as it was then
Felt the warmth and love once again
Oh what memories I do recall
and these are some I love most of all.
