Oh, What Memories I recall
~*Granny's Kitchen*~
Oh what memories I recall.
Granny's cottage most of all.
So much love in every room,
And in the garden filled with bloom

Granny's touch was everywhere,
Made for each of us to share.
The smell of bread, and home made stew,
Baking pies, and cookies too.

Come here child and roll the dough,
And cut them gently row by row.
Place them on this cookie sheet,
When they're done we'll have a treat.

Old Jesse waited in the barn
To give the milk and cream to churn.
A childhood wonderment to see
Old Jesse give her milk so free.

After washing hands and face,
Sitting down and saying grace,
We ate the cookies I had made
And drank the milk that Jesse gave.

Around this table filled from above
She told the stories of God's love.
We shared so many memories here,
All my hopes and childhood fears

She told of times in her childhood days,
How things had changed in many ways.
She told of walking miles to school,
To learn spelling, math, and golden rule

The bitter cold and snow so deep
Filled every lane and every street.
Country roads where snow had flowed
Drifts were deep and filled the road.

In my mind I'd seen this scene
So many times in childhood dreams.
Walked the roads with granny near
Holding hands and laughing cheer.

Now I'm grown and life has changed,
And Granny's aged and her health waned,
But we sit around this table still
Sharing memories of life fulfilled.

Though many years have come and gone
Still the memories linger on.
In Granny's cottage where love abound,
A place on earth where heaven's found.
