Oh What Memories I
Recall
Oh what wondrous food was shared
And with loving hands prepared
In granny's dining room so small
Filled with joy from wall to wall

Holidays with aunts, uncles too
And cousins dressed in pink and blue
Red and white, and shades of green
And even hues of purple seen

Twinkling across the table bright
Was seen the dance of candle light
To prance and play with crystal ware
As if there were tiny fairies here

Holding hands and bowing heads
In thanks to God, the blessing said
In gratitude for food we'd share
And loving blessings through the year

Holidays were special here
In granny's dining room each year
Thanksgiving dinner, and Christmas Ham
Cherry pie, salads, and candied yams

Satisfied and filled to brim
Grandpa would play his violin
Voices harmonizing sweet
Lulling youngsters sound asleep

I go back from time to time
In my thoughts and dreams sublime
and feel the gentle love again
in grannys dining room felt back then

Oh what memories I recall
And Oh what joy was had by all
In granny's dining room so small
Filled with love from wall to wall
