~*Granny's Christmases*~
Oh What Christmases I recall
At Granny's cottage when I was small
Christmas tree sparkling all through the night
Star topped the tree, icicles glistening bright

And under the tree lovingly wrapped gifts
Hearth shining where the firelight kissed
Old Blue laying on a hand spun rug
As grandpa petted and gave him a hug

Soft Christmas carols played on the old radio
Told of the Birth of our Savior so long ago
We'd talk of the Christ Child born on this day
Of Mary & Joseph and manger where He lay

Of The shepherds and wise men who saw His star
Came from the fields and from countries far
Of the angels who sang and praised His name
Peace on earth and good will to all men

Outside the snow circled and swayed
As the starlight danced and snowflakes played
Like tiny angels all through the night
Magical snowdrifts glisten with a blanket of white

As Granny laid me down to sleep
And touched my brow and kissed my cheek
I felt her love as tears filled her eyes
I cherished this granny so loving and wise.

As I slept I dreamed of Santa and elves in green
And a toyland of wonderful dolls and books I'd seen
Puzzles and rocking horses and trucks and cars
Candy canes and peanuts and tiny wood soldiers

Christmas meant so many things to me back then
Stockings filled with goodies and gifts from them
Christmas turkey and stuffing, cranberries and pie
Apple salad and a ginger bread house with candy piled high

Grandpa would play his harmonica and old violin
And we would harmonize in song as we joined in
Goldies and oldies that he'd learned long ago
Carols of Christmas and about Winter's snow

Yes, what memories I recall
Of Christmas Mornings with tree standing tall
Of blessings and love we felt back then
And still in my dreams I go there again.
