In this room so filled with treasures
Some of the best were saved for me
Her gifts were given with out measure
in each was felt love she gave so free

I spent so many quiet hours there
as I touched sparkling necklace and rings
and smelled the scent of lilac so clear
as it lingered on granny's scarves and things

In her trunk she'd saved a life time
letters wrapped in pink satin ribbons
and cards with sentiments in rhyme
she smiled as she felt love that was given

With a tear in her eyes she'd share
each memory that still lingered there
her life with grandpa and kids growing up
their homemade gifts lying right on top.

down deep in the bottom in tissue so white
It must have been special all folded just right.
Her wedding dress lay undisturbed by time
She smiled and said someday it would be mine.

In her closets hung so neat and out of site
clothes she had worn on her wedding night
with gentle light in her eyes she had returned
to the secret place where her heart still yearned

These were such special times for me
As I knelt there at granny's knee
she told me stories of her and grandpa so dear
And I could always feel his spirit so near

What I would give to live again
The happy times we spent back then
And see her gentle eyes light with wonder
as she traveled to their place to ponder.

Oh yes, what memories I recall
In Granny's bedroom we shared it all
we'd wonder back in Granny's dreams
Where they'd sat beside quiet streams
